Blonde Arts Books is dedicated to sharing ideas, resources, and materials regarding self-publishing of art and poetry books. The blog strives to disseminate information about independent publishers and bookstores, artist and exhibition opportunities, and book production and funding resources.
Books published under the Blonde Art Book imprint include:
Kitsch Encyclopedia by Sara Cwynar, 2014
Dust: The plates of the present, February 2013 – July 2015, 2015
Published by Blonde Art Books and Secretary Press, the publication includes images from the archive and text contributions by Robin Cameron, Thomas Fougeirol, Mara Hoberman, Flora Katz, Brett Littman, and Jo-ey Tang. Edited by Sonel Breslav.
Blonde Art Books curates book-centric exhibitions that examine the connections between traditionally exhibited artwork and the books, magazines, and other printed matter that inform and shape their conception. An example of this model of presentation is the recent exhibition This Summer… at U:L:O: Part II, Interstate Projects, Brooklyn (June 18 – August 3, 2014), The scenery changes three times at Schema Projects, Brooklyn, NY (March 2 – March 31, 2013) and Render Visible at Present Company, Brooklyn, NY (September 30 – October 28, 2012).
And most recently: Dust: The plates of the present, February 2013 – July 2015 (September 15 – October 17 2015)
In addition, Blonde Art Books has organized pop-up events featuring new independent art publications by contemporary artists and small presses at venues such as PS1, MoMA, Queens, NY; ICA, Philadelphia, PA; Mattress Factory, Pittsburgh, PA; Wexner Center for the Arts, Columbus, OH; Hyde Part Center, Chicago, IL; and The Silent Barn, Brooklyn, NY.
In 2013, Blonde Art Books held a one year brick-and-mortar residency at Schema Projects, a gallery in Bushwick, New York.
Established by Sonel Breslav in 2012, Blonde Art Books continues to collect and share independent publications about art, poetry, criticism, and cultural studies.
