BLONDE ART BOOKS SUMMER TOUR, 2013

After months of planning we are pleased to finally announce the schedule for our upcoming BLONDE ART BOOKS TOUR. In each city we have organized one-day events that intend to investigate publishing and print culture in a variety of ways. Details and updates for each event will be available via this post as well as through Facebook, Twitter, and our weekly newsletter (sign up here).

Celebrate the launch with us at The Silent Barn for an afternoon of performances and show&tell alongside a display of the touring Blonde Art Books inventory. Come check out independently published books & zines that have been previously featured with Blonde Art Books. We invite you to bring completed or in-progress print projects.

As part of the tour launch the Robert Seydel Society of Eastern Switzerland (formerly the Robert Walser Society of Western Massachusetts) will present two pieces / some books.

1) Rick Myers will perform Fragments of a failed bullet – addendum to his recent presentation at MoMA Library
2) Lauren VHS and a sub-sub librarian from the Society will perform Two Pieces by Robert Barry (Robert Seydel’s copy)

A xeroxed booklet by Myers, Fragments of a failed bullet, will be printed especially for the occasion, and some books from the RSSES’s shelf at last weekend’s BABZ Fair will again be present.

Blonde Art Books’ first event outside of New York will include a display of independent publications from the Blonde Art Books inventory along-side a presentation of books by Larissa Leclair of the Indie Photobook Library, Cahiers Intempestifs, and SP Weather Station (Natalie Campbell and Heidi Neilson).

The public is invited to attend this free event and bring their recent self-published projects to participate in an informal show&tell. Blonde Art Books will be collecting select publications to be part of an ongoing collection that will travel to future cities on the tour.

In conjunction with the final weekend of Excursus at the ICA, Philadelphia, Blonde Art Books will be presenting a selection of Risograph-printed publications by Swill Children, Viele Stück, Nickolaus Typaldos, and Japanther, among others. This collaborative presentation is the second stop on the Blonde Art Books Summer Tour and will be presented in conjunction with the final Excursus discussion at 2pm with Rebecca Cleman, Distribution Director at EAI.

BLONDE ART BOOKS will be presenting a display of independent art publications from the inventory as well as recently donated and traded publications from DC and Philadelphia alongside a series of performances, readings and presentations by local Baltimore book-makers and artists.

You are invited to attend this free event and bring recent self-published projects to participate in an informal show&tell. Blonde Art Books will be collecting select publications to be part of an ongoing collection that will travel to future cities on the tour.

An exhibition of posters and editions will be on display for the evening event.

Participants include: Dina Kelberman, Alejandro Ventura, Lesser Gonzalez Alvarez, Pellinore Press, John Bohl, Caitlin Cunningham and Kaitlin Murphy, Adam Robinson, Tracy Dimond, among others.

The Mattress Factory will host the daytime event which includes a display of art books from the Blonde Art Books tour alongside the artist-run photobook gallery and project space, Spaces Corners, and community-based artist book publisher Encyclopedia Destructica. Guests are invited to bring their art publications to display on a shared table and participate in an informal show&tell.

Once again guests are invited to bring their books to display on a shared table and participate in an informal show&tell.
