Blonde Art Books at the ICA, Philadelphia

On Saturday, June 15th Blonde Art Books participated in the final program of Excursus – a two-year long four-part initiative at the ICA, Philadelphia in which Reference Library , East of Borneo, Ooga Booga, and Primary Information were invited to build “on the idea of an excursus (an exposition or digression from a primary text)… and activate and re-imagine both the physical and discursive space of the ICA, creating a hub for reflection on issues related to the exhibitions on view in the galleries.”

Saturday’s discussion focused on questions of exhibition, conservation, and considered the current status of ‘video art’ in light of technological and cultural changes since the ICA’s 1975 Video Art exhibition. The event was introduced by Excursus series organizer and ICA’s Program Curator, Alex Klein and led by Rebecca Cleman, Distribution Director at EAI. Participants included Homay King (Bryn Mawr College), Herb Shellenberger (International House), Adelina Vlas (Philadelphia Museum of Art), and artists Nadia Hironaka and Matthew Suib.

Blonde Art Books presented a selection of Risograph-printed publications by Swill Children, Viele Stück, Nickolaus Typaldos, Japanther, and Ginevra Shay, among others. Additionally, a selection of newsprint and xerox publications were included in the display.

This was our second event as part of the BLONDE ART BOOKS TOUR.
