On September 17, 2012, New York based artist Tilton Widro constructed a free-standing room inside of Molasses Books in Bushwick, NY that contained hundreds of rare and antique books . The books, which were salvaged from Widro’s previous employer, were made available to the public for free. Rather than throw the books away, as he was assigned to do, Widro orchestrated an event in which an enthusiastic group of passersby could reconsider the value of these damaged and stained books, some of which date to the turn of the 20th Century.
The last image is of a book on plants and flowers written in German and published in 1937. Inside were dried flowers.
